PRACTICAL LIFE
- Elementary movements – develops the child’s manipulative skills and body co-ordination. For example: activities like pouring, cutting, folding and lacing.
- Care of the person – teaches the child how to look after himself/ herself and his/her property like tying their own shoelaces, folding their clothes, putting on their own coat.
- Care of environment – teaches the children various tasks like dusting, tidying up, setting table which they will need and use within their daily life environment.
- Social skills, grace and courtesy – teaches the child to understand his role in society and what kind of conduct is acceptable. E.g. how to speak in a group, polite greetings.
SENSORY EXERCISES
These exercises are for the development and refreshment of the child’s five senses, thereby sharpening his intellect and control, preparing him for more advanced exercises in math, language and geometry.
LANGUAGE EXERCISES
Language is involved in every aspect of the Montessori environment from practical life to Sensory activities but it is also introduced through step – by- step program, starting with the Sandpaper Letters. Each child will be introduced to sounds and words developing their reading and writing skills. Exercises include, the large movable Alphabets, object and word boxes, Sentence strips and Flash cards.
MATH
Maths is introduced to the child from the first day. It teaches them the study of form, quantity, concept of number values and relations. Exercises include the number rods, cards and counters.
CULTURE
Culture is always a part of every person’s life. The kids are made to realize that their world is much bigger than they can imagine.
